THE ASSET CLASS
What is corporate debt?
Corporate debt refers to capital a company borrows from private lenders - rather than a bank - to fund growth, acquisitions, or operational needs, in exchange for regular interest payments. Instead of buying equity in a business, investors lend directly to it, sitting higher in the capital structure with a defined repayment schedule and, in Arrowpoint’s case, senior secured protection.
For investors, this typically means more predictable, income-generating returns than equity, with contractual protections that reduce (though never eliminate) downside risk. Arrowpoint’s origination of senior secured corporate loans broadens the range of these opportunities now available through the AltX platform.
01
Fixed Income Profile
Returns are generated primarily through scheduled interest payments, not capital appreciation.
02
Priority of Repayment
Senior secured debt holders are repaid ahead of equity in the event of financial distress.
03
Often Secured
Facilities are typically backed by company assets, offering an added layer of protection.
